Through two distinct courses, the mission of the Tunneling Academy is to provide clinicians with the theoretical and technical expertise required for soft tissue management around natural teeth, dental implants, and edentulous ridges. The techniques taught are those we apply daily for their proven efficacy and reproducibility. Our programs are intensive and demanding, yet delivered in a relaxed and collegial environment that fosters experience sharing. Regardless of your initial skill level in mucogingival surgery or implantology, our courses remain accessible and are designed to promote hands-on learning and clinical progression.
All treatment concepts and techniques presented in Dr. Ronco’s book Tunnelisation and its most recent publications will be thoroughly taught during this intensive three-day hands-on course. However, the program goes well beyond the book, delving deeper into clinical nuances and advanced treatment strategies. A comprehensive theoretical lecture—richly illustrated with clinical photographs and videos—serves as a guiding thread, providing context for the practical exercises. These exercises are conducted on multiple original educational models including some specifically designed by Dr. Ronco for this training. Each concept, method, or technique is immediately applied in practice, ensuring optimal integration. The course structure allocates approximately 70% of the time to hands-on sessions and 30% to theoretical instruction. To maximize the benefits of the practical component, participants are encouraged to review Tunnelisation and Dr. Ronco’s scientific publications beforehand, to familiarize themselves with the treatment philosophy and surgical principles that will be explored.
Mastering soft tissue management during bone augmentation procedures is critical to achieving the tension-free primary closure essential for successful outcomes. This intensive two-day course will provide you with key tips and reproducible techniques applicable to both the mandible and maxilla. However, the most challenging aspect is often not the bone reconstruction itself, but the management of the soft tissue consequences it creates : loss of keratinized tissue, thinning of the biotype, major shifts in the mucogingival line, absence of a buccal vestibule, and muscular fiber encroachment on the edentulous ridge. With a wide array of surgical options available, choosing the right approach can be difficult. That’s why we’ve developed a decision-making diagram to guide you. A structured theoretical lecture, illustrated with clinical photos and videos, provides the framework for hands-on exercises conducted on multiple custom-designed educational models. Each concept and technique is immediately applied in practice. The course is structured with approximately 70% hands-on training and 30% theoretical instruction.
Dr. Vincent RONCO DDS, MSc, PG
Dr Ronco completed his dental degree and his Master of Sciences at the University of Paris, before completing postgraduate training in periodontics and implantology from the University of Liège, Belgium. He maintains a practice limited to periodontics and implantology in Paris, France. He has been committed for a long time, as a writer and as a lecturer, to soft tissue management. He has notably developed a novative suture technique named Belt & Suspenders, and the micrografting concept.
Dr. Eric DAVID, DDS
Dr David obtained his dental degree from the University of Paris, before completing postgraduate training in periodontics and implantology. He maintains a practice limited to periodontics and implantology in Paris, France. He is a renowned author and lecturer. He has been long involved in teaching as co-director of the Implantology Diplomas at the University of Evry Paris-Saclay and at the University of Paris-Est Creteil.

Among the many modalities developed to treat periodontal recessions, tunneling can be an overlooked approach that is minimally invasive and that can offer highly predictable and esthetic results. The author of this impressive monograph is educationally focused, and he bases the success of tunneling protocols not only on a deep understanding of the tenets of a segmented surgical approach, but also on the strict analysis of the crown-root transition zone, use of novel belt and suspender sutures, and revised management of connective tissue grafts. Chapters are structured to help readers learn what they need to know to begin practicing this technique. Impressive case presentations show the versatility of the approach and demonstrate the variety of complex clinical situations that it can address. This book will become the standard for learning tunneling protocols because of how meticulously the material is presented and because its simple and rational decision trees show clinicians how to establish a clinical pathway where nothing is left to chance.
